Jerry L. Long, 64, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Regency Place in Greenwood. He was born Sept. 22, 1946, in Edinburgh, to the late Oscar and Miriam (Waltz) Long. He was a 1964 graduate of Edinburgh High School. He worked for the Edinburgh Police Department for one year and retired in 2000 after 22 years with the Franklin Police Department. Jerry was a member of Sons of American Legion Post 205 in Franklin, Model A Restorers Club and Mid-Hoosier Model A Club. Survivors include his daughter, Juli A. Baurain of Franklin; his loving companion, Carolyn Herron of Franklin; six grandchildren, Teah Browning of Indianapolis, Jay Johns of Brown County, Tosha Baskin of Indianapolis, Lyndsey Johns of Boca Raton, Fla., Austin Browning of Franklin and Harli Browning of Franklin; a great-granddaughter, Amber Canfield of Fort Myers, Fla.; two brothers, Jim Long of Indianapolis and John D. Long of Greenwood; and a brother-in-law, Jack Lewis of Edinburgh. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard A. Long; and a sister, Shirley F. Lewis. The Rev. Dennis Patton will conduct a funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
