Henry Tungett, 78, of Columbus, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at Silver Oaks Health Campus in Columbus. Mr. Tungett was a former thermal tester at General Electric/Wellman in Shelbyville and a veteran of the U.S. Army. A graveside service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh with the Rev. Kirby Rupp officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Edinburgh American Legion Post No. 233. There will be no calling. Arrangements were made by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Born in Johnson County Sept. 13, 1932, Mr. Tungett was the son of Lloyd and Delia Tungate Tungett. He married Anna Margaret Weber who preceded him in death Sept. 28, 2009. Surviving are sons, Michael (Debbie) Tungett of Columbus and Rickie Tungett of Indianapolis; daughters, Susan Jones of North Vernon and Debbie L. Tungett of Columbus; and grandchildren, Nikki Kinman of Columbus, Michael Jones of Brown County and Lillie Jones of North Vernon. He was preceded in death by a brother, Othie; and sisters, Jean Anderson, Nellie Caldwell, Helen Phillips and Hazel Gilmore.
