Robert Lee Shoup, 72, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin and former resident of Edinburgh. He was born on April 24, 1941 in Buchanan, MI. His mother was Della Mae (Heckathorn) Shoup, Goldsmith. His step-father was William H. Goldsmith. He married Joann Stevens of Shelbyville, IN on November 14, 1964. She survives. Other survivors include his children Della A. Shoup of Indianapolis, IN, Charles W. Shoup (Mandy) of Trafalgar, IN; brothers Dwight “Pete” Shoup (Barbara) of Cypress, TX, Bill Goldsmith (Robin) of Crocker, MO, Larry Goldsmith (Paula) of Plano, TX; 4 granddaughters Mindy, Chelsea, Josie, Aubrey Shoup; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Tim Goldsmith. He was a graduate of Edinburgh High School class of 1960. Robert served in the National Guard from 1963 to 1969. He was employed by Cummins Engine Co. for 33 years retiring on February 1, 1996. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #547 F&AM Hartsville, IN; Murat Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. Indianapolis, IN; Johnson County Shrine Club; Moose Lodge #398 Columbus, IN; Columbus Eagles Lodge #741; American Legion Post #252 Greenwood, IN. Robert enjoyed fishing, camping, and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. Rev. Walter Howard will conduct a service on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 2:00pm at Flinn & Maguire F.H. in Franklin, IN. Friends may call on Friday, April 18, 2014 from 4-8pm also at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 7:30pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, IN.
