Mary L. Kroft, 84, of Hope, died at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at the home of her son in Columbus. Mary retired in 1992 from Halmet in LaPorte where she had worked for 15 years. She was formerly employed and later was a volunteer at Hope Community Center. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Rick Leonard officiating. Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to time of service Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Born in Knox, Indiana, January 12, 1930, Mrs. Kroft was the daughter of Robert and Mary Oaf Trumbull. She married Donald W. Burton, who preceded her in death, and later married Harold Kroft, who also preceded her in death. Survivors include her son, Michael (Marcella) Burton Sr. of Columbus; a brother, Larry (Maureen) Trumbull; sisters, Mildred Herr, Martha (Earl) McQuire, Shirley Olson and Kay (Jesse) Geiger; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Trumbull; mother, Mary Hisel; both husbands; a brother, Robert Trumbull; sisters, Virginia Gaerte and Lucille Harkelroad; sons, Donald Wayne and Jimmy Allen Burton; daughters-in-law, Sandra Kay Burton and Julie R. Burton; a grandson, Keith W. Burton; and a great-granddaughter, Ashley E. Burton.
