Dorothy Marie (Wise) Lucas, 82, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014. She was a resident of Edinburgh. She was known by the nickname“ Sweetie.” She was born Nov. 16, 1931, in her beloved Trimble County, in Bedford Kentucky to Oscar and Thelma Wise. She was married Dec. 11, 1948 to John Carl Lucas for 66 years. Dorothy was first and foremost a Christian mother, and stayed at home with her children. She enjoyed gardening, canning, genealogy, quilting, painting, reading, fishing and traveling in the western states. Most of all she enjoyed her quiet time in prayer each morning. She was the piano player at her church in Edinburgh, where her husband was a pastor for many years. She is survived by her husband, John Carl Lucas, Children; Carlotta (Darrell) McKnight, Edinburgh, Michael (Joellyn) Lucas of Morgantown, Dianna (Jimmy)Mobley of Kentucky, Rebecca (Rick) Stevens of Edinburgh,, Stephen (Pam) Lucas of Virginia, and a daughter-in –law Tina Lucas of Franklin. She is a grandmother of several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, in different parts of the country. She is the aunt of several nieces and nephews. She is survived by two siblings Paula Wise (Joe) Ginn of Bedford, Kentucky, and Leslie (Rita) Wise of Hubbard Ohio. She was preceded in death by her son Mark Timothy Lucas, daughter Julie Esther Lucas, and a brother James Wise Services will be held at noon Saturday, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Vandivier – Tudor Chapel, 951 N. Main St. with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon. Rev. Donald Walden will be officiating, and Tommie Phillips will conduct a prayer. Burial will take place at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
