James W. Dailey M-B-94-8
James W. Dailey, 93, passed away Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at Willow Crossing Health and Rehabilitation in Columbus. He was a resident of Edinburgh. He was born July 22, 1921, in Indianapolis. He was the son of Earl and Nellie (James) Dailey. He was married to Doris A. (Campbell) Dailey on Dec. 30, 1945. She preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 2011. He is survived by a son, James Earl (Sherry) Dailey of Elizabethtown; and five grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Robert Wayne Dailey and John E. Dailey; and a sister, Jean Ashley. He was a member of Blue River Separate Baptist Church and Edinburgh American Legion Post No. 233 and was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and received five Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. He retired from Amos Thompson Corp. in Edinburgh. He enjoyed camping, fishing and woodworking. The Rev. Douglas Smith will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
