Charles Irvin Raley, 77, of Westport, passed away at 12:08 p.m. on Wednesday,December 17, 2014 at his residence. He was born on March 20, 1937 in Sullivan, the son of Fred B. and Helen A. (Banther) Raley. He has been a Westport resident since 1980 and graduated from Burney High School in 1955. He had worked for the Reliance Electric Company in Columbus and K.B. Specialty Food in Greensburg. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era as a medical specialist. He is survived by his nieces, Valeta Sue Stevens and Julie Ann Asberry both of Anderson; his nephews, William Fred Howard of Florida and Mark Anthony Howard of Rodney. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Terrance Marion Raley and his sister, Margaret Aileen Mires. A memorial service will be conducted with Holly Cole officiating at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Military Honors. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westport Volunteer Fire Department through the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home.
