Robert W. “Bob” McKinney, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, May 31, 2015. He was a longtime resident of Franklin. He was born on May 6, 1931 in Reform, Missouri, the son of the late Jewell and Ollie (Stone) McKinney. Bob married Jackie (Dolen) McKinney on May 6, 1953. They celebrated fifty-two years of marriage. She preceded him in passing on July 3, 2005. Bob is survived by their children, Amy McKinney McIntyre of Carmel; Doug and wife Cindy (Baker) McKinney of Franklin and Kristin McKinney of Indianapolis. Also surviving are grandchildren, Anderson and Ian McIntyre and Brett, Jeremy and Olivia McKinney. One sister survives, Dorothy Starnes of El Paso, Texas. He was preceded in passing by his parents; wife, Jackie and siblings, Kathryn Baldwin, Myrtle , William McKinney, Stephen McKinney and Sara Ann “Sally” Davidson. He was a graduate of Fulton High School in Fulton, Missouri. After graduation, Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a Corporal and MP. He was employed as a District Manager for William T. Grant Stores for several years. He later was employed at Joanna Western Mills, retiring after thirty-two years of service. After retirement, Bob worked at Menards in Southport until 2013. Bob was a fun-loving man. He enjoyed restoring cars and woodworking, making furniture for his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, June 13th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Saturday, June 13th from 11:00 a.m. to time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, Indiana. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor’s charity of choice.
