Richard L. Finchum M-H-36-1

Richard L. Finchum, 73, of Edinburgh, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Silver Oaks Health Campus in Columbus. He was born Sept. 25, 1941, in Indianapolis, the son of Woodrow J. and Bertha (Dewitt) Finchum. He married Sandra D. (Hayden) Finchum on Aug., 24, 1963. She survives. Other survivors include a son, David A. (Mikki) Finchum of Columbus; a daughter, Natasha L. (J.R.) Purtlebaugh of Columbus; grandchildren, Katie Finchum, Brandon Finchum and Ryan Finchum; stepgrandchildren, Tyler Purtlebaugh and Zach Purtlebaugh; great-grandson, Emmett Witsman; a brother, Carl (Mary Ellen) Finchum of Indianapolis; and a sister, JoAnn (Mac) McCammon of Tipton. He was preceded in death by his parents and 16 siblings. He was a member of Calvary Christian Church, where he served as an elder. He was also a member of St. John’s Masonic Lodge 20 and was a union plumber of Local 440. He graduated from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis and had an associate degree from Ivy Tech. He owned Finchum Plumbing, Confederate Plumbing and Weeping Cherry Design. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, football and puzzles and was an avid Civil War buff. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Dick Yeaton and the Rev. Bill Weaver at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Christian Church, 7648 E. State Road 252, Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Arrangements were entrusted to Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.
