Samuel Morris Bryant

Samuel “Sam” Morris Bryant, 73, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 at the VA Hospital in Marion, IN. He was a resident of Edinburgh, IN.He was born on December 19, 1946 to Samuel and Goldie Bryant. He married Maria Jean Johnson on April 22, 1985. She lovingly survives. Other survivors include his brother Wayne Bryant (Tammy) of Columbus, IN; children Judy Campbell (Jeff) of New Whiteland, IN, Paula Burton (Troy) of Nineveh, IN, John Singleton of Trafalgar, IN, Michele Hennessee (Ted) of Crossville, TN; grandchildren Samantha Vaughn (Steve) of Franklin, IN, Ashley Wilcoxen (Ryan) of Martinsville, IN, Rebekah Zisette (Chaz) of Provo, UT, Sammy Hennessee (Kelsie) of Crossville, TN, Christina Singleton of Trafalgar, IN, Baylee Burton of Nineveh, IN, Heidi Hennessee of Crossville, TN, Brice Singleton of Trafalgar, IN; 5 great grandchildren; and long-time friend W.A. Burton of Edinburgh, IN who always referred to Sam as “little buddy”. He was preceded in passing by his parents; sister Ida Mae Wiley; brother in law Mike Wiley; and aunt Ruth Bryant.Sam was a Seabee in the United States Navy, doing two tours of duty in Vietnam. He always said he joined to Navy so he could “Ride the waves”.He worked at Cummins Engine in Columbus, IN. as a machine operator retiring after many years of service.Sam would rather be on the lake than anywhere else and was a member of the Winding Waters Bass Masters of North Vernon, IN. He enjoyed numerous fishing trips with his son in law Troy, and won several tournaments over the years. He also enjoyed bowling, pitching horseshoes, go-karting, and spending time with his dogs.Brother Douglas Smith will conduct a service on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 1:00pm at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home 2898 N. Morton St. Franklin, IN 46131. Friends may call from 11:00am until the service time. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, IN.
