Donald Lee Haptonstall

Donald “Don” Lee Haptonstall, 69, of Columbus, passed away at 3:24 p.m. Friday,
December 11, 2020 at his home.
Don was born June 3, 1951, in Franklin, Indiana, the son of Clifford L. and Janice L. Taylor
Haptonstall. On December 23, 1983, he married Linda Melcher.
Mr. Haptonstall retired from Cummins Engine Company on July 1, 2018 after 46 years of
service. Don enjoyed working in the yard and landscaping. Don loved spending time with
his children, grandchildren and looked forward to going to the beach.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 37 years, Linda; daughter, Breana (Matt Clapp)
Haptonstall of Columbus; son, Brent (Heather) Haptonstall of Mims, Florida;
grandchildren, Addison Green and Hayden Haptonstall and nephew, Troy (Jenny)
Haptonstall, also of Columbus; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Fern K. Doty; brother, Ronald
(Judy) Haptonstall and nephew, Brian Haptonstall.
In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place and a memorial service will
be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington
Street with Pastor Rick Glowacki officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time
of service Thursday at the funeral home. Due to pandemic restrictions, we are limited to
50 people in our funeral home. We do ask that visitors follow the social distancing
guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are required.
Private inurnment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Columbus First Assembly of God or Our Hospice
of South Central Indiana.
