Russell and his fiancé, Ellen Roth had a special code they used at the end of their many letters during deployment oversees. When Russell signed, “Love you.” …. the meaning was, “I’m in England.” and when Russell signed, “Love forever.” …, the meaning was, “I’m leaving port.” Russell will be missed by family, friends, and all who knew him for his quick wit, humor, and entertaining stories.
