Charles L. McTarsney Jr., 69, of Franklin, Indiana, passed from this life at 2:27 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Charles was born in Newport News, Virginia, December 2, 1954, the son of the Charles L. McTarsney Sr. and Deloris Butler Mctarsney. Charles was a draftsman at Cummins Engine Company retiring after 45 years of service. Charles was proud to be a Free Mason. He was a member of Camon Masonic Lodge No. 343 and was raised to a Master Mason July 9, 2009. He was a member of the American Legion, and he was an avid HAM radio operator. Having a passion for music, Charles played the banjo, guitar and keyboard and sang. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his Harley-Davidson, collecting guns and impersonating Elvis Presley. Charles also loved Nascar, family reunions, making people laugh and he had a penchant for storytelling and often enjoyed embellishing them with fantastical anecdotes. He will be remembered for dearly loving his dogs.Charles is survived by his loving mother, Deloris McTarsney of Franklin; daughter, Jodi Hacker of Columbus; grandchildren, Donovan (Bridget) Davis of Columbus and Sadi Hacker of Columbus; sisters, Vickie (Rob) Thayer of Columbus and Jill (Don) Novak of Columbus; nieces, Katelyn Novak of Noblesville and Megan (Daniel) Kane of Columbus; nephew, Jordan (Rachel) Thayer of Carmel; and great-niece, Beatrix Thayer. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles L. McTarsney Sr.; brother, Timmy McTarsney; and an infant grandson, Nathaniel Davis. A Masonic memorial service conducted by members of the Camon Masonic Lodge will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. The funeral service will immediately follow the Masonic service, the funeral will conducted by the Reverend Jerry K. Day Sr. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Charles will be laid to rest at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
