Lester Burton, 89 passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024.   He was a longtime resident of Franklin. He was born on November 19, 1934, in Franklin, Indiana, the son of the late Frank M. and Mauty Ellen (Goodin) Burton.  He married Leona Mae (Sievertson) Burton on July 26, 1959.  She preceded him in passing on January 5, 2014.  Lester is survived by their children, son, Fred (Darcy) Burton of Indianapolis, granddaughters, Erin, and Lexi (Blake Davis); daughter, Leslie (David) Hash of Franklin, grandchildren, Meagan (Sean Snyder) and Jacob, and great granddaughter, Gia Mae Snyder.  He was preceded in passing by two infant sons, Marcus, and Thomas: sister, Clara M. Burton Streeval, sister, Hazel Burton Corbin, sister, Patricia Ann Burton Fisher DeBaun, sister Emma Burton Streeval and brother, Alvin Burton. He was a 1953 graduate from Edinburgh High School.  He was a veteran of the United States Army. Lester was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Franklin, Indiana, retiring after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon, and a trustee.  When it came to life, he loved God, his wife, kids, grandkids, and great granddaughter.  He loved fishing and keeping his property pristine. Pastor Brandon Jolley will conduct a celebration of Lester’s life on Thursday, May 16th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 548 W. 100 N., Franklin, Indiana with visitation on Wednesday evening, May 15th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church.  Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, Indiana.
